Yesterday’s Marathi Shala session was a vibrant testament to the dedication of our students, teachers, and parents towards embracing and enriching our Marathi heritage. From the moment our Batch 1 scholars stepped in at 10 AM, the air was charged with enthusiasm and the eagerness to learn.
A Warm Start to the Day
The session commenced with a warm-up ‘kavayat’ activity led by Amita teacher, setting a lively tone. This was followed by a soulful rendition of the “Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu” mantra, beautifully presented by Smita Ji, Suhashini Ji, and Vaishali Ji. This divine invocation not only grounded us in our spiritual roots but also reminded us of the importance of guidance and wisdom in our lives.
Reinforcing the Basics
A crucial part of the day was dedicated to revisiting Swar and Vyanjane, ensuring that our scholars have a solid foundation in the Marathi language. The addition of three new Vyanjane (? [ph], ? [b], ? [bha]) was an exciting challenge for our students, who eagerly incorporated new words into their vocabulary. The interactive session that followed, where students and parents contributed words to the board, was a highlight, showcasing the collaborative spirit of our Shala.
Engaging Activities
Although time constraints limited our color activity, the enthusiasm and participation levels remained high. The homework assigned to Batch 1 scholars aims to reinforce their learning and prepare them for future sessions.
Batch 2’s Turn to Shine
As the clock struck 11:10 AM, Batch 2 scholars arrived, ready for their session. The learning journey began with the “Manache Shlok,” with Puja teacher guiding the students through its first 20 lines. This profound text, offering instructions for the mind, serves as a beacon of wisdom, encouraging clarity of thought, better decision-making, and a fulfilling life.
The session proceeded with a recap of Swar and Vyanjane, further enriched by the addition of three more Vyanjane (? [?], ??? [ksh], ??? [gya]), completing our exploration of the alphabet.
The scholars’ ability to bring new words to the session was particularly impressive, reflecting their growing command over the language.
An interactive activity where scholars wrote words starting with displayed Vyanjane on a projector screen was a testament to their creativity and understanding. The enthusiasm and skill displayed by our scholars in this activity were truly commendable.

A Concluding Note of Encouragement
The day wrapped up with a story hearing/showing activity, encouraging scholars to converse in Marathi. Led by Sucheta Teacher, this activity was not just about language learning but also about building confidence in verbal expression.
As we look back on yesterday’s session, we are filled with pride and gratitude. The dedication of our teachers, the enthusiasm of our scholars, and the support of our parents are what make our Marathi Shala a nurturing ground for learning and cultural growth.
We thank everyone involved for their commitment and look forward to continuing this journey together. Let’s keep the flame of Marathi culture and language burning bright for generations to come.
Batch 2 scholars, remember your homework is to learn the first 20 lines of the “Manache Shlok.” Together, we grow stronger in our language and heritage.
Thank you.
