Yesterday’s Marathi Shala session was a testament to the joy and depth of learning Marathi, filled with interactive activities, storytelling, and the reinforcement of linguistic skills. Our day began promptly at 10 AM with the arrival of our Batch 1 scholars, eager to dive into the day’s lessons.
Warm-Up and Divine Learning
The session kicked off with a warm-up ‘kavayat’ activity led by Jayshree Ji and our dedicated volunteers, setting a lively tone for the day. We then moved on to the divine learning of the “Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu” mantra, paying homage to the gods and teachers who guide us on our path of knowledge.
Recap and New Learnings
A unique recap of Swar and Vynajane followed, engaging the kids in reading together and introducing a new word for each letter, enhancing their vocabulary and reading skills. We introduced two more Vynajane (म [m], य [y]), accompanied by new words for further practice.
Story Time
The highlight for Batch 1 was the story time featuring “Elephant and Mouse” (हत्ती आणि उंदीर), narrated by Sucheta Ji through a uniquely crafted picture presentation. The kids were thoroughly engaged, enjoying every moment of the tale.
Homework (Batch1) and Parental Involvement
As we edge closer to our first assessment in April, we assigned homework to complete the writing of म [m], य [y], along with any pending Swar and Vynajane. We encourage parents to support their children in completing these tasks, ensuring they are well-prepared for the assessment.
Batch 2’s Turn
At 11:35 AM, it was time for Batch 2 to shine. The session began with a recap of the Swar and Vynajane, with kids impressively identifying and vocalizing the letters. The introduction of Barakhadi marked a significant step in their learning journey, with Sucheta Ji making it accessible by combining Vyanjane with Swar in a visually engaging manner.
Interactive Activity
An interactive activity saw the kids writing the first letter of their names with dependent vowels, showcasing their understanding and creativity. The enthusiasm and effort displayed by the kids were truly commendable. Finally, attendance.
Homework for Batch 2
To reinforce today’s learning, we asked the kids to complete the Barakhadi for क [k], ख [kh], ग [g] in both reading and writing as homework.
A Day of Enrichment
Today’s session was not just about language learning; it was a celebration of Marathi culture, storytelling, and the collective effort of our community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the teachers, volunteers, parents, and, most importantly, our scholars for making today’s session another successful chapter in our journey of learning and growth.
Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for being a part of our Marathi Shala family.
