A Day of Learning and Engagement: Recap of Our Latest Marathi Shala Session

Yesterday’s Marathi Shala session was a vibrant blend of learning, culture, and fun, marking another successful day in our journey of promoting the Marathi language among our young scholars and their families. The day was filled with activities designed to deepen the understanding of Marathi and foster a love for our rich heritage.

Morning Session with Batch 1

The day kicked off at 10 AM with our Batch 1 scholars, who were greeted with a warm-up ‘kavayat’ activity led by Amita teacher. This initial activity set a positive tone for the day, energizing the students for the learning ahead. The divine mantra “Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu” was then beautifully presented by Smita Ji, Suhashini Ji, and Vaishali Ji, instilling a sense of reverence and spirituality early in the session.

A recap of Swar and Vyanjane (क [k], ख [kh], ग [g], घ [gh], च [ch], छ [chh], ज [j], झ [jh], ट [t], ठ [th], ड [d] & ढ [dh], द [d], ध [dha], न [n], प [p], ण [n], त [t], थ [tha], न [n], प [p]) followed, reinforcing the foundational elements of Marathi language. The addition of three new Vyanjane (फ [ph], ब [b], भ [bha]) expanded the students’ vocabulary, with an interactive session where scholars and parents contributed new words, showcasing their learning and creativity.

Although time constraints limited our color activity, the enthusiasm of the students remained high. The homework for Batch 1 is to practice writing all previously learned Swar and Vyanjane, including those introduced in this class.

Afternoon Delights with Batch 2

Batch 2 scholars arrived punctually, and the session began at 11:15 AM. The learning commenced with the “Manache Shlok,” with Puja teacher guiding the students through the first 20 lines. This session provided timeless wisdom, offering mental clarity, better decision-making skills, and pathways to a fulfilling life.

A recap of Swar and Vyanjane was conducted, similar to the morning session, but with the addition of new Vyanjane, enriching the students’ understanding and application of the language. An interactive activity followed, where students were challenged to write words starting with a given Vyanjane displayed on the projector screen. This activity not only tested their vocabulary but also encouraged writing in Marathi, with bonus points for creativity.

The session concluded with a storytelling activity, where stories were shown on screen, and students were encouraged to converse in Marathi. Led by Sucheta Teacher, this activity aimed to motivate students to speak and understand Marathi, enhancing their conversational skills.

The homework for Batch 2 is to review and learn the first 20 lines of the “Manache Shlok.”

Gratitude and Looking Forward

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the teachers, volunteers, parents, and, most importantly, our eager scholars for making this session a success. The dedication and enthusiasm of everyone involved are what make our Marathi Shala sessions so special and effective.

Stay tuned for more updates, and remember to practice at home. Together, we are not just learning a language; we are keeping our culture alive and thriving.

Thank you.
