Celebrating Marathi Shala Achievements: A Recap of Our Annual Event

The recent MH Marathi Shala Annual Celebration was a testament to the dedication and passion of our students in learning the Marathi language and embracing our culture. The event, which also coincided with the celebration of Maharashtra Din, was a culmination of hard work, learning, and cultural immersion.

Preparation and Setup

The morning of the ceremony began with preparations for the Maharashtra Din celebration songs, adding the final touches to our Shala decor, and setting up the necessary equipment. Our SBS Event Essentials team ensured that the venue was equipped with speakers, music systems, microphones, and sound arrangements for the event.

Commencement of the Ceremony

Despite the rainy weather, families and students began arriving around 9:50 AM and took their seats. Parents were seated under a large white canopy outside the Shala to accommodate everyone comfortably, and some were standing under Umbrella. As the attendees settled in, the ceremony commenced.

Acknowledgment and Introduction

Pooja Varude Ji, the teacher and program anchor of our batch 2, represented the Shala teachers and extended gratitude to all parents and students for their presence. She highlighted the students’ hard work throughout the academic year in learning Marathi language and culture. Amita S. Ji provided a detailed insight into the progress of Batch 1, emphasizing the achievements and milestones reached.

Cultural Aspects and Workshops

Sucheta M. Ji, our Batch 2 teacher, delved into the cultural aspects of our Shala, discussing the workshops held throughout the year. These workshops aimed to blend American and Indian culture, creating a relatable and engaging experience for the students. Many children shared stories and written pieces reflecting their understanding of cultural values.

Guest of Honor Address

Mangesh T. Ji, the MMBA Shala head organizer, served as the guest of honor, sharing insights from his 17 years of experience teaching Marathi heritage and values to children. His address underscored the importance of preserving and promoting our cultural heritage.

Recognition and Awards

The ceremony also included the distribution of certificates and motivational award pins to deserving students. These awards, including Exam Excellence, Attendance Star, Continues Learning, Penmanship, and Marathi Maestro, celebrated the students’ achievements and dedication. Additionally, students received parting gifts sponsored by the Kutniker family, setting the stage for the upcoming academic year.

Administration and Logistical Management

Sachin Ji and Vaishali Ji from the Shala Administration department addressed the parents, guests, and kids, sharing insights into the day-to-day administration and logistical management of the Shala. Their efforts ensured the smooth functioning of the event.

SBS Event Essentials Team Acknowledgment

Special recognition was given to the SBS Event Essentials team, led by Srinivas and Sachin Kolte for the music system and Smita Patil for decoration. Their generous efforts in enabling beautiful music and wonderful decoration contributed significantly to the success of the event.

Parent and Student Testimonials

Parents and kids also shared their views about MH Marathi Shala, expressing appreciation for the learning environment and cultural experiences provided.

Closing Remarks

In conclusion, as a MH Shala volunteer and learner, I addressed the attendees, expressing gratitude to the Shala Organizer, teachers, and volunteers for their hard work in teaching Marathi language and cultural heritage in an interactive way. Their dedication often goes unseen, but it is truly appreciated. Long live America, English, and Marathi languages!

The MH Marathi Shala Annual Celebration was not just a ceremony but a testament to the collective efforts of our community in preserving and promoting our cultural heritage.
