A Memorable Marathi Shala Session and Independence Day Celebration (2024)

Yesterday’s Marathi Shala session was a remarkable blend of educational enrichment and patriotic celebration, marking a significant event in our community calendar. We were thrilled to witness close to full attendance for both Batch 1 and Batch 2, with an enthusiastic turnout of students, parents, teachers, and volunteers.

Independence Day Celebration Highlights

The day commenced with a heartfelt celebration of Independence Day. We were honored to have many guests join us for this special occasion. Together, we sang the American national anthem and the Indian anthem, “??????,” creating a memorable and unifying experience for all involved.

The shared respect and enthusiasm during these performances left a lasting impression, and the feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive.

Batch 1 Session

The Batch 1 session was thoughtfully structured to balance learning and celebration. Our dedicated Amita Teacher began the session with a Yoga practice, focusing on ???????? (Tree Pose – Vrikshasana), which helped set a calm and focused tone for the day. Following this, the class moved on to singing “Guru Brahma,” reinforcing our respect for educators.

The core of the session involved revisiting the Marathi Swar (vowels) through reading and writing exercises. We covered the first six Swar: ? [a], ? [aa], ? [i], ? [ii], ? [u], and ? [oo]. Support from Suhasini and Balasaheb was instrumental in ensuring the smooth progression of this segment. New students practiced writing these Swar, with some completing up to five lines at Shala, while others were assigned to finish the work as homework. Batch 2 Session

After the Independence Day celebrations, Puja Teacher and Jayashree Teacher took over for Batch 2. Jayashree Teacher led the students in practicing the Lord Ganpati Stotram, enhancing their understanding of this important cultural hymn. Puja Teacher then conducted a review of the Swar, focusing on writing and usage. New students were tasked with completing their Swar writing, while existing students were encouraged to create new words using the Swar they have learned.

Acknowledgments and Appreciation

A special thanks goes out to our Cultural and Decoration team for the stunning tricolor decorations that added to the festive atmosphere. We also extend our gratitude to parent volunteers Sunal and Shradha for their help with the tricolor treats, which were a hit among students and guests alike.

We are deeply appreciative of the support and involvement from all Shala teachers, leads, and parents. Your presence and enthusiasm contributed significantly to the success of the event. Seeing everyone come together to sing our anthems with such respect was truly heartwarming.

Thank you once again for making this day a memorable celebration of both learning and national pride. We look forward to continuing our journey together in fostering a love for Marathi language and culture.

Stay tuned for more updates and upcoming events.
