Yesterday’s Marathi Shala session was a vibrant blend of cultural celebration and educational activities, centered around Krishna Janmashtami and the upcoming Ganesha workshop scheduled for September 8th. The day began with Batch 1 commencing at 10:00 AM.
Under the guidance of Vaishali Ji and Sucheta Teacher, the session was divided into two groups: Group 1 focused on mastering Marathi Swar, while Group 2 delved into both Swar and Vyanjane.
Sucheta Teacher enriched the learning experience by narrating the tale of Lord Krishna’s birth, accompanied by an exquisite Krishna Janmashtami decoration crafted by Smita Patil Teacher, which adorned the classroom beautifully.
Batch 1’s homework assignment included completing Swar writing in their Shala notebooks and practicing reading aloud.
A total of 35 students attended Batch 1, demonstrating their dedication to learning the Marathi language and cultural values.
Batch 2 commenced at 11:30 AM PST with an enlightening Ganesha Stotram led by Jayashree Teacher, followed by Puja Teacher’s engaging session on the first 10 Vyanjane, involving both reading and writing practice. Puja Teacher also regaled the students with the tale of Lord Krishna’s birth, illustrating the intricacies of Krishna Janma through Smita Patil Teacher’s artful decorations.
Additionally, Batch 2 participants actively participated in the Ganesha workshop preparations. Older students were involved in constructing the base for Ganesha and adorning it with intricate decorations and names. Homework for Batch 2 included finding new words related to the first 10 Vyanjane.
Both batches also explored the cultural significance of the Bail Pola festival, traditionally celebrated in Maharashtra, India, to honor and respect bulls used in farming and transportation.
This multifaceted session not only promoted linguistic skills but also fostered cultural diversity and collaboration among students.
As we continue to prepare for the Ganesha workshop on September 8th, MH Marathi Shala remains committed to nurturing a deep appreciation for Marathi language and culture among our young learners. Thank you to all the teachers, volunteers, and parents for their unwavering support and participation in yesterday’s enriching session.
Stay tuned for more updates on our journey of learning and cultural celebration at MH Marathi Shala!
