Happy New Year to all!
After a long holiday season, we were delighted to kick off our first Shala session of 2025 yesterday for MH Shala and Friday for Manteca Shala. While the attendance was lower than usual with 35 kids present for MH Shala and 6 kids present for Manteca branch (as many students were feeling under the weather), it was still a day filled with learning and fun.

MH Shala Batch 1 Highlights:

Group 1:

• Kids revised Swar (स्वर) and familiar words starting with Swar sounds.
• They learned about days and dates (काल, आज, आणि उध्या).
• Students described what they saw in given pictures in Marathi, fostering language usage and creativity (मराठी बोलण्यावर जास्त लक्ष).
• The session ended with engaging games focused on numbers (अंक) and colors (रंग).

Group 2:

• Kids started with Prarthana `and Yoga, setting a calm and focused tone for the day.
• They revised Swar and Vyanjane, and learned two-letter Marathi words.
• Teachers prepared students to start learning two or three-letter words next week, focusing on letters K and Kh (क, ख).
• The session concluded with a fun color line game.

Assessment:

• For Group 1: The assessment will focus primarily on oral performance.
• For Group 2: The assessment will include 50 marks oral and 50 marks written. The detailed assessment structure will be shared next week.

MH Shala Batch 2 Highlights:

Group 1:

• Kids revised Swar (स्वर) and Vyanjane (व्यंजने) and started forming two-letter words.
• They are steadily catching up with Group 2 in their progress.

Group 2:

• The session started with Marathi conversation practice (मराठी बोलण्याची सराव).
• Students began learning word formation and constructing meaningful sentences.

Assessment:

• Teachers explained the assessment pattern and mark structure: 40 marks oral and 60 marks written. For newly enrolled kids, the focus will be on oral assessments initially. Refer below screenshot for Assessment syllabus.

Manteca Shala Batch Highlights:

This week, the kids engaged in a fun activity by drawing a bunny (ससा) and practiced speaking in Marathi (मराठी बोलण्याचा सराव केला). They learned the letters “sa (स)” and “saa (सा)” and also revised all the letters they have learned so far: अ, आ, इ, ई, व, औ, ग, गा, य, स, सा.

Assessment:

• For Group 1: The assessment will focus primarily on oral performance.

A Promising Start
