नियमावलीRules & Guidelines

The guidelines that help us keep Marathi Shala a safe, respectful and joyful place to learn — for students, parents, teachers and volunteers alike.

Last updated: August 2026

Welcome to Marathi Shala, which is part of the Aapli Marathi Shala & Community nonprofit organization, where we aim to create a positive, supportive and productive environment for everyone involved — from students to teachers, parents, functional leads and volunteers. To ensure smooth operations and a safe, respectful atmosphere for all, we have established the following guidelines. These rules apply to all participants in our Shala, including kids, parents, teachers and volunteers.

1. Respect and Kindness

  • Mutual Respect: We expect all students, parents, teachers and volunteers to show respect towards each other. Please be kind, patient and courteous in all interactions.
  • Zero Tolerance for Bullying: Any form of bullying, harassment or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. We believe in fostering a supportive environment where every individual feels valued and heard.
  • Follow Instructions:Listen carefully to instructions and ask questions if you don’t understand.

2. Attendance and Punctuality

  • Timely Arrival: To ensure a smooth start to each session, please arrive on time. Punctuality is essential for maintaining a structured learning environment.
  • Attendance: Regular attendance is crucial for maintaining continuity in learning. Parents are expected to notify the Shala administration if their child will be absent for any reason. If a child misses more than five consecutive sessions without notice, they may be moved to the waiting list to accommodate new students. Parents can email Shala management at contact@mhshala.org.
  • Early Pick-Up: Parents are kindly requested to pick up their child on time at the end of each session.

3. Classroom Behavior

  • Active Participation: Students are encouraged to actively participate in all activities and discussions. Disruptions in the classroom affect the learning experience for everyone.
  • Materials: Students should bring the necessary materials (notebooks, pencils, etc.) to every class. Teachers will inform parents of any special requirements in advance (e.g., specific project materials).
  • Safety: All students must follow safety guidelines when engaging in activities like crafts, sports or any other physical activity.

4. Communication

  • Respectful Communication: All members of the Shala community — including students, parents and staff — should engage in respectful and constructive communication.
  • Updates and Notifications: Parents and volunteers will receive regular updates about Shala activities, events and other important information. Please ensure that your contact details are up to date.
  • Shala Blog and social media: Please regularly visit our Shala blog to stay informed about what was covered in each Shala session. We also encourage all parents, kids and community members to follow the Shala on our social media platforms, including our YouTube channel, Instagram and Facebook pages.

5. Involvement of Parents

  • Parental Support:Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s Marathi language education. Attend parent meetings, workshops and special events, and engage in the learning process at home.
  • Privacy: We respect the privacy of all students, parents and volunteers. Any personal information shared during Shala sessions, meetings or events will remain confidential.
  • Volunteer Opportunities:We encourage parents to volunteer in various Shala activities — whether it’s helping with classroom work, assisting with events or supporting extracurricular activities. Your involvement strengthens the community and provides valuable support for our kids.

6. Safety and Security

  • Pick-Up and Drop-Off: Ensure that your child is dropped off and picked up from the designated areas on time. If someone other than a parent or guardian is picking up a child, prior notice must be given to the Shala staff.
  • Health and Safety: If your child is feeling unwell, please refrain from sending them to Shala. This helps maintain a healthy environment for all.
  • Allergies and Health Conditions: Notify the instructor in advance of any allergies, health concerns or special needs your child has.
  • No Running: To prevent accidents, running or rough play is not allowed inside the garage or surrounding areas.
  • Emergency Contact Information: Please make sure that the Shala has your current emergency contact details in case of an emergency.
  • Follow all the signs mentioned in the Shala garage and surrounding areas.

7. Events and Workshops

  • Participation in Events: Students and parents are strongly encouraged to participate in Shala events and workshops. These events foster a sense of community and provide opportunities for hands-on learning.

8. Shala Media Usage

  • Photo and Video Consent:As part of our media policy, the Shala’s media team will capture photos, videos and other materials during Shala classes, workshops and events. These will be used for the Shala’s official public channels, including the website, social media and promotional materials. By participating in these sessions, you consent to the use of these images and videos for the Shala’s communication and outreach purposes.

9. Addressing Concerns or Confusion

  • Questions or Issues: If you have any questions regarding the functioning of the Shala, the syllabus or any processes, please reach out to the Shala administration team at contact@mhshala.org. We are here to help and resolve any concerns you may have.

10. Respect for Shala Property

  • Handling Materials: All students and volunteers are expected to treat Shala property and materials with care. Any damaged property should be reported immediately to the Shala administration.
  • Cleanliness: Students and volunteers are expected to maintain cleanliness in the classroom and common areas. Please help us ensure that our Shala remains clean and welcoming for all.

11. Volunteer and Teacher Conduct

Volunteers and teachers are expected to model respectful, responsible behavior and lead by example. They should ensure that all students feel safe and supported in their learning environment.

12. Garage-Specific Guidelines

  • Space Awareness: Be mindful that the garage is a multi-purpose space and may contain items not intended for use. Do not touch anything outside of the designated class materials.
  • Ventilation and Comfort: Dress appropriately for the temperature, as the garage may be warmer or cooler than expected.
  • Emergency Procedures: In case of an emergency, children will be guided to the safe outdoor meeting area as outlined by the instructor.

We hope these guidelines will help us create a nurturing, positive and inclusive environment at MH Marathi Shala. We thank you for your cooperation and support in maintaining a space where everyone feels welcome to learn and grow.
